Stacey O’Neal Irwin is associate professor of new media at Millersville University, Lancaster, Pennsylvania in Department of Communication and Theatre.  Previously she taught in the Department of Electronic Media and Film at Towson University.  She teaches courses in visual production, radio/audio production, all kinds of writing, public speaking, media theory and history, leadership in media, and Women and Gender Studies, in the traditional classroom setting and in elearning/online format.

She is the project manager of several civic engagement efforts including the Project Green Lancaster digital publication and website, Pennsylvania Media Museum and Media Lit. 101.  She recently completed a faculty fellowship with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Education Foundation in Hollywood, CA.  She also serves as a social media consultant and content creator for the Software Productization Center, Millersville University.

Irwin's research are as varied as her interests, and her methodology is decidedly qualitative.  She studies, among other phenomena like creative digital technologies/digital storytelling through lived experience methodology.  She has written journal articles for Human Studies and Explorations of Media Ecology, and chapters in Teaching with Multimedia: Pedagogy in the Websphere (Hampton Press), Phenomenology and Media (Zeta), Assessing Media Education (Erlbaum) and entries for The Encyclopedia of Gender and Media (Sage).  She is currently working on a chapter for the 3rd Edition of Rebecca Ann Lind’s book Race/Gender/Media. She will soon begin production on a digital documentary titled, "Raising Faith: Stories about Dyslexia."

Irwin has contributed scholarship and leadership to the following organizations; Broadcast Education Association (BEA), National Communication Association (NCA), Society of Existential and Phenomenological Theory and Culture (EPTC), Society for the Social Study of Science (4/S) and Society of Human Sciences (SPHS).  She is on the Board of Directors for Society of Phenomenology and Media (SPM), Susquehanna Sustainable Business Network (SSBN), is a member of the Steinman Scholarship Committee, and is a Girl Scout volunteer and Cadette leader for the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania.  She also serves on Scholarship Committees for the Girl Scouts and Strinman Family Foundation.
